 Abhaya Subba, well-known female rocker of Nepal was born on 11 June in Darjeeling is a Bandleader/Manager and singer of the Abhaya and the Steam injuns. Besides singing, she is also an honest pianist and a songwriter. Her inspiration and her driving force is her father who skilled her everything she knows about music today. Her husband Kai Weise has given her comfort of being honest with her music giving her his endless support. Her first musical act was with a US band. She also sang with Parikrama from '93 to '95. Worked as a RJ in Times FM in Delhi and Hits FM. Later joined Kantipur FM and worked as a producer with Image Channel. Tell us something about yourself. What kind of person are you?
-Well, I am musician, I love doing music & I am creative person and I just love being creative & doing creative things. I am such type of person who does not get bored. So, I want to be creative every time. And I am a very fun loving person also.
Tell us something about your childhood.
-My childhood spent with many books, studies, music. I have a father and three sisters &I do not have mom. My mom passed away when I was three. Then my father brought me up. He has always been supportive in my field. My father, himself being educated, happily inspired me to be a part of the music. Today, I think if he had not been positive towards me I would not have been able to be known as Abhaya Subba. I spent my childhood in India also where I got my early education.
Entry into the field of music...
-I was interested in music from my childhood days. Later with the support from my father and my husband Kai Weise I came into the musical field.
I have been in to music since very long time when I was in Delhi with Parikarma. Then I involved in to different radio stations in India & Nepal. At 2003, I have started my own band called "Abhaya & the steam injuns" with this band, my musical career begins professionally. With them I recorded my albums with them I do my shows..Programs..
What is your best ability?
-My best ability is being creative....Again.
So, what about your career now?
-I never look music as a career, more of the passion. I had born to do music. In terms of music, I don't have a career. I just love doing music. something like that you have to do....trying to get from just moving on.....step by step. Also looking at the shy and trying to reach there...things are not over done overnight.
What about your fashion quotient? Are you a designer/brand devotee?
-As I said earlier I am not fashion quotient. I like to be stylish. I like new things. Basically the clothes I wear, I design myself and my friend Punam Rai who does a lot of clothes for me. Everybody in Nepal & Kathmandu wears same cloths. Noooo, I that much of a brand devotee but I am Punam Rai devotee because she is a wonderful designer.
Secret behind your freshness and beauty?
-Whhhatttt? Freshness and beauty..... But thank you...I believe a lot of us are not born fresh and beautiful. But if you happy inside you feel fresh any time & joy shows in your face. If you always looking forward..tomorrow...and always positive...then freshness is right there. .that's my secret..

A female fashion no-no?
-Wearing too tight cloths jeans if you are not fit.
You prefer men wearing. Tips for men regarding style.
-Jeans and T-shirts....Definitely not pointy shoes. I don't like pointy shoes...I like them in comfortable converse shoes. Well fitted jeans. Men do now much choices.. do they... But i believe man should be clean..

- Yeah, i never wear Maxi, Salwar, Kurtha..Patiyala...
How important is fashion in today's world?
-Apparently, Fashion is very important in today's world because I am talking about it and this interview is based on that and it is very important in today's world because a lot of people making money from it & it makes somebody happy. It is providing money to people.
Negative aspects of Nepalese Fashion.
-Well...In Nepal...mostly pick up things from the store. Every girls wear same type of jeans...if you walking in the street...you..can..see..everybody..wearing tight jeans.
No. of keys in your key ring?
-Noneeeeee..I don't believe in locking anything that's why I loose a lot of things.
What is under your bed?
-Nothinggggggggg...i don't keep anything under my bed. It is not good.
What shoes do you wear?
-I wear all sorts of Shoes.. Boots..High hill shoes...shoes are my weakness so I wear all kinds of shoes... |
What gadgets do you have at home?
-Now we are trying to get a generator it is a very important gadget nowadays. We have inverter. It's very real and practical now. We have laptop. In addition, I have my new adventure notebook.
What is the one thing about you that men find appealing?
-You tell me...what they did find me appealinggggggg???? I think half of men are intimidate. I do not know reallyyy...if you are men...you tell me. I guess..I am ambitiotious..I want to do things...trying to achieve something one by one..
Does success make man/women attractive?
-Definitely does...when I was not singing and when I was just like a student at that time most of people not found me attractive. But, after 10 years...when I was singer then people says oh....it's a success. This is also applied in men also even if a successful men is not good looking & he looks like a great, sexy whateverrrrrrr.
If you were a rainbow, what color you would be?
-If I were a rainbow then I would be all seven colors....what kind of question is this men????
A fruit and animal you identify yourself with?
-I don't identify myself as a fruit or an animal. I am very happy to being a human.
Something that no one knows about you?
-I don't like to be a fruit or an animal....
If you could change something about your life, what it would be?
-Only thing that I would change in my life would be the way this country is being managed. This country is being mismanaged completely...that is one thing I would like to change in my life.
Do you think male nude is repulsive?
-No, I don't think male nude is repulsive. I think...it's very appealing...especially with somebody like...like John Abraham.
If you were a guy you would be....
-..Not happy...if I were a guy I wouldn't be happy.

-Which one was that...Basic Instant...
 Do you think world moves on money and sex?
-Yeah, it does because people are always trying to make money so they can do what they want. If you have money you can buy new clothes.. and other thingssss..what you want.If you look at TV channels, newspapers. look at people talking ..the whole world completely bombarded by money and sex.
